Artist Information: About Laura Humenik

Laura is a bead designer, wire wrap artist, Precious Metal Clay artisan and also works with hand dyed textiles. In addition to Precious Metal Clay, she also works with Bronze Clay and ceramics. Her ability to bring out color on metal with patinas is a wonderful addition to her artistic pallette.

Laura likes to incorporate  wire wrap and wire sculpture into her jewelry and home fashion designs.  Her work quite often has an organic feel.  The Precious Metal Clay and Bronze Clay give her the ability to design pieces that are entirely her own.  In addition to bead embroidered jewelry, Laura also creates Spirit Dolls that are fantastic flights of her fantasties in beaded form. They have faces made of polymer clay, ceramics, or metal clays, and allow her to make use of all sorts of textiles, beads and even vintage bits and pieces.

She generates her ideas by finding focal objects including her own pieces, fused glass created by Margie Drake and other glass work artisans, and by following her feeling of what is needed to complete the design concept. 

Sometimes she finds a great Cubic Zirconia, Ruby or Sapphire, that begs to be showcased by the Precious Metal Clay.  This new medium  is a 99% pure silver product, making every piece a noble addition to your collection. In the future Laura plans on becoming certified in Precious Metal Clay, and further developing her already considerable skills as a  silversmith and glass lamp-worker.
